Laura Goldstein
mashu mashu translates from the Hebrew expression, ‘WOW - that’s really something!’
Laura’s weakness for beautiful jewelry and shells began as a child, when she decided to make a necklace from discarded escargot shells from a restaurant. The lingering garlic smell kept more than vampires away. Laura started a hand-painted children’s wicker furniture business, selling to stores and clients across Canada and in the U.S. For 22 years she was a performing arts publicist and a freelance writer for Canadian House & Home and Style At Home, specializing in design and lifestyle. Laura always made scouting detours on her travels to Paris, Provence, the artist colony of San Miguel d’Allende, Mexico, California and Israel to collect jewelry pieces. Her own jewelry designs reflect Laura’s love of the ocean and the exquisite colors and textures of stones, shells and pearls. They have been featured in InStyle Magazine, Elle, Wedding Bells U.S., LouLou and Fashion Magazines, Chatelaine Magazine, WHERE Ottawa as well as the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star and National Post. Her pieces are available in stores nationally. |
